Sep 09,2024The design goal of Shallow Spool Spinning Reel is to achieve a balance between long casting performance and line capacity by optimizing the spool structure. In the process of fishing, long casting distance is very important for some scenarios, while line capacity determines the storage capacity of fishing line and the ability to deal with big fish or complex fishing spots. How to strike a balance between the two is a key challenge in the design of shallow spool spinning reels.
The main characteristics of shallow spools are shallow spools and small line capacity. However, this design helps to reduce the friction resistance of the line during casting. Because the spool is shallow, the area of contact with the edge of the spool when the fishing line leaves the spool is reduced, the friction becomes smaller, and the line is released more smoothly. This advantage of reducing friction can effectively increase the casting distance, especially when using lighter fishing gear or long-distance casting is required, shallow spools have obvious advantages.
However, the capacity of shallow spools cannot be ignored. Due to its shallow structure, the line capacity is less than that of deep spools. In some fishing scenarios, such as sea fishing or deep water fishing, anglers may need a lot of fishing line to cope with long distances or complex underwater environments. To balance this problem, shallow spools are usually used with high-density braided lines or thin-diameter nylon lines. These lines are strong and small in diameter, and can store more fishing line in a limited space, thus ensuring the line capacity requirements.
In addition to using the right line, the shape design of the shallow spool is also crucial. Modern spinning reels usually adopt a tapered or wide-mouth design, which can further reduce the friction between the line and the cup mouth and increase the line release speed during casting. At the same time, a moderate increase in the outer diameter of the spool can also improve the casting performance without significantly increasing the line capacity. This structural design can accommodate as much fishing line as possible while maintaining the long-distance casting advantage of the shallow spool.
Another optimization point is the line gauge system of the spinning reel. Through the precisely designed line gauge device, the fishing line can be evenly wound around the spool when it is retrieved, thereby avoiding overlapping or piling up of the line in a certain place and reducing the waste of spool space. This system not only improves the effective utilization of line capacity, but also keeps the line released smoothly during casting, further improving the long-distance casting.
In order to improve the efficiency and stability during casting, some shallow line cup spinning reels are also equipped with advanced brake systems or magnetic control systems to help control the speed of line release. These technologies can effectively prevent the line from being released too quickly during casting, avoiding problems such as bird nests or line entanglement. By accurately controlling the speed of line release, anglers can achieve more stable and farther casting.
